Object description

BREMER Hamburg GmbH, acting as the main contractor for the Hanover City Archives, was responsible for the complete planning and turnkey construction. The collection centre is yet another successful project realised in collaboration with bauwo Grundstücksgesellschaft.

The multi-storey City Archives covers an area of around 20,000 m² and is not only an architectural eye-catcher: 
The building impresses with an elaborate, cantilevered precast structure and a light-coloured clinker brick façade supported by a stainless steel system. The building services are also complex: the office, workshop, quarantine, storage and archive areas meet the highest security standards (RC4) and hygiene requirements.

With 44 climate-controlled cabinets and seven ventilation systems on the roof, constant temperature and humidity levels are maintained in the storage and archive rooms to protect the valuable exhibits. The planning and coordination efforts required were correspondingly high; a challenging task for the project and site management teams.
