Object description

The Hermes Baur fulfilment logistics centre comprises two fully automated shuttle warehouses connected by a five-storey central building. The central building, consisting of four above-ground floors and one basement level, is used for goods receiving, order picking and dispatch operations. It also accommodates office and staff facilities, sanitary areas and two ventilation plant rooms.

Barrier-free access is provided throughout the central building and the administrative areas, including two passenger lifts and two freight lifts. Goods containers are transported across multiple conveyor levels by means of two vertical conveyor systems.

The transfer of goods between the central building and the existing facility is carried out via an underground tunnel and a bridge. For pedestrian traffic, an external access corridor links the new building with the existing facility.

The two shuttle warehouses (North and South) are 24 metres high and fitted with high-bay racking systems, in which goods are moved fully automatically by stacker cranes. The warehouse floor slabs are located 2.5 metres below the ground-floor level of the central building, as the racking systems require the corresponding installation height.

The installation of the racking systems and conveyor technology within the central building was carried out in parallel with the construction works.
